Before you buy the cnc router, you need make clear the configuration and function of the cnc router. A complete cnc router including spindle,VFD, driving system,including the gear and rack(small machine with ballscrew transmission),rail guide.T-slot table/vacuum table,controller,like MACH3,DSP,LNC ,Syntec. Stepper motor or Servo .
Accessories like dust collector,vacuum pump,tool sensor, etc.
1.ATC cnc router

ATC means auto tool changer. Usually use 9kw air cooled spindle,8-14 pcs ISO 30bits, ER32 Collect, machine change the bits automatic, no need operator to change it ,that will save time,especially the complex design, maybe one pattern need use 5-8 pcs bits .
2.normal manual cnc router.

Change the bits by manual,it mainly for simple job ,or simple design pattern ,no need change the bits frequently.
 
According the axis, there are 5 axis cnc ,4 axis ,3 axis cnc ,price go from high to low.
5 axis cnc mainly for mould making, spindle with A,C axis ,freeswinging.
4 axis is X,Y,Z,A axis, spindle can rotated +-90 degree, it can do some curved material.4 axis do not same to 4^th rotary ,rotary is for cylinder object, like chair legs, stair armrest .
3 axis is X,Y,Z axis ,common cnc router ,cheaper and popular ,widely used for small cnc,and woodworking cnc router
 
According engraving or cutting material.
There are woodworking cnc router, cnc router for stone, cnc router for metal. Mini cnc router for advertising industry.
According transmission method ,there are gear rack transmission cnc ,ballscrew transmission,
Usually the ballscrew machine is small working size.no need fast working speed.
