In this paper, the laser cleaning applications of CW and pulse lasers are compared and tested, and their characteristics and application scenarios are analyzed. CW laser and pulse laser can remove the paint from the surface of the material to achieve the effect of cleaning.
Under the same power condition, the cleaning efficiency of pulsed laser is much higher than that of CW laser. At the same time, pulsed laser can better control the heat input and prevent the substrate temperature from being too high or producing micro-melting.
CW laser price has the advantage, can use high power laser to make up for the efficiency of the gap with the pulse laser, but the heat input of high power CW light is larger, the degree of damage to the substrate will increase.
Therefore, there are fundamental differences in the application scenarios. The precision is high, the temperature of the substrate needs to be strictly controlled, and the application scenarios requiring the substrate to be nondestructive, such as molds, should choose the pulse laser. For some large steel structures, pipelines, etc., because of large volume and fast heat dissipation, the damage of the substrate is not high, you can choose the CW laser.
